January 2025 Personal Letter

A PERSONAL LETTER
FROM MARK LEVITT

Dear Friend,

Back in the day, a Levitt Letter reader accused us of filming our Israel footage in Arizona or New Mexico. After laughing, my father Zola and I wondered whether any convincingly Holy Land terrain even exists here in the States. After all, if NASA was suspected of fabricating moon landings in those regions, shouldn’t Zola Levitt Ministries (ZLM) be able to capture “Biblical” scenery without flying our production crew across the Atlantic?

Years later, a second conspiratorialist ZLMer accused Zola of being a secret agent for the Israeli government. Zola proudly accepted that accusation as a badge of honor and readily conceded in a subsequent Levitt Letter that, indeed, he certainly was! Not that Israel’s leaders had any inkling about his supposed ties to them. Still, he would have gladly been a certified spy for the Holy Land if only they had offered him the opportunity.

The March 2022 Levitt Letter Bulletin Board highlights “Flipper Alert” — another amusing but false accusation:

Flipper movie VHS cover (1996)
credit: Universal Pictures

The 1964–1967 television series Flipper portrayed “America’s favorite dolphin,” unofficially adopted by Ranger Porter Ricks’s family on a Florida coast. Affectionate Flipper performed many heroic deeds, even undermining some criminal enterprises. In the 1996 movie Flipper, the dolphin takes on dastardly local polluters off the Florida coast.

Recently, Hamas has accused “killer Zionist dolphins” of spying on its operatives and naval forces in its Gazan enclave. Maybe they are Flipper’s grandchildren? Enemies have long accused Israel of using vultures, eagles, lizards and, more recently, dolphins for military porpoises purposes, including espionage.

Now suppose that I follow in Zola’s footsteps and serve as an Israeli secret agent. Imagine that Israel’s foreign intelligence agency Mossad surreptitiously implanted a chip in my brain that activates under certain scenarios. And, beyond that, suppose that I can even sense when encountering other chip-implanted, Zionist zealots whose energy, devotion, and enthusiasm for upholding Yeshua, Israel, and the Great Commission seem unexplainable to unbelievers. Ridiculous, yes — the stuff of a sci-fi novel.

Nonetheless, that scenario comes to mind as I work with Joshua and Caleb Colson, the Bearded Bible Brothers™ (BBB), and our razor-sharp, new office manager Andrea. The energy and devotion with which they tackle tough assignments on behalf of this ministry often seem superhuman — as if they’re under an anointed spell — apparently a God thing (Rom. 8:28).

For details about the excellence that our new generation of leadership and management brings to ZLM’s table, please see page 14 of the January 2025 Levitt Letter to read my Note entitled, “Pretending that I’m Dead.” Its gist is that if I were gone tomorrow, this ministry’s board and you, the supporter, could rest assured that ZLM’s mission would continue unabated. Not that I plan to go anywhere soon.

Back to the topic of unfounded concerns: A TV station manager recently questioned the legitimacy of the BBB’s praise reports about signs, wonders, and miracles. Whether or not you share such doubts, I encourage you to read Caleb’s testimonial on pages 3–5 in his new book, Josiah and the Last Reformation.

In Caleb’s respectful response to the station manager, he cited John 14:12 in which Yeshua states, “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father.” Then Caleb elaborated:

[Josh and I] have seen cancer healed, tumors disappear, all kinds of ailments instantly cease. Personally, we have both experienced miracles. I was healed of a speech impediment that involved missing muscles that were needed for my tongue to articulate words. Not a single thing I spoke was understandable. Numerous doctors and specialists recommended surgery and therapy; yet their prognosis was a lifetime of babbling. Nonetheless, at nine years old, I was supernaturally restored! After an evangelist prayed for me, my tongue muscles popped, with new muscle being made by Jesus. It took less than a year for me to learn how to speak at my age level. I was also instantaneously healed of a brain tumor at 18 — it disappeared!

Josh had a bad stomach disease; he couldn’t eat. He was going to need surgery. Yet, before he could go ahead with that surgery, God completely restored him. Josh tore his calf muscles three days before we left on a recent trip to Israel. He couldn’t walk; he just crawled on the ground. Immediate surgery was advised with six months of rehab in order to walk. Our family prayed for him, and within three days, he was running — and on the fourth day, he was climbing Mount Hermon!

At age 20, while filming near a campfire, Josh was set completely on fire; he suffered second- and third-degree burns. The doctors advised that he would have nerve damage and scarring his whole life. Instead, our family prayed for him and he was healed; his skin completely restored! He had no scarring or infections and never returned to the hospital after the initial visit. These kinds of stories go on and on with us.

Please be advised, Dear Reader, that Caleb insisted on donating this fine Josiah book’s manuscript to ZLM, free of any compensation or royalties. He and Andrea labored over its text for months, during the time when they were at their busiest — bringing in-house the operations previously handled by Berg Productions, our television production and airtime syndicator. My “State of the Ministry” article in the July 2024 Levitt Letter (p. 14) explains this transition, noting our producer Ken Berg’s retirement at age 81 after 45 years of excellent programing.

Now our ministry is more efficient than ever, laying the groundwork for an unprecedented expansion into social media that will reach generations X, Y, and Z just as our weekly television broadcasts minister to baby boomers, like me, and the beloved, silent generation of which Zola was a member.

ZLM is still undergoing a considerable turnaround, involving costly investments in retooling and updating to enhance our traditional television broadcasting, while boldly expanding the number of hungry souls we reach via social media. We designed the new style of Our Jewish Roots (OJR) to hold the interest of viewers with shorter attention spans who are often easily distracted. The abundant, positive comments we receive affirm that our new mode of Bible teaching is on the right track.

This ministry cannot, however, pay for TV airtime and production with attaboys, slaps on the back, and vows to fervently pray for us — though we still appreciate those. For the last year, we have been exhausting significant cash reserves from two large bequests. We’ve upgraded our cameras and studio set, as we will soon do with our aging lighting and sound equipment. We’re also blessed to have added experienced video editors — one full-time and the other part-time.

Have you noticed that OJR broadcasts are clearer and more colorful than those of most other ministries? If so, then you are seeing the benefit of our production team squeezing every drop of performance out of new equipment that is yielding big bangs for the buck while performing better than older technology.

Again, we’re competing for eyeballs that need to watch Bible teaching and Biblical commentary rather than the better-funded, catchy shlock that floods today’s media. Your dollars and prayers are making this happen, and we need them throughout the new year (Isa. 52:7).

I also encourage you to review the two following “Notes from Mark” to prayerfully weigh how much more of a commitment God would have you make to our wonderful, yet ever-improving ministerial outreach:

In His service,

Mark

P.S. You already know how much you value Sarah Liberman’s boots-on-the-ground articles from Israel and appreciate Josh and Caleb’s Bible teaching on television. So now, will you kindly do all you can to help us teach from both Testaments about God’s unfolding plan, the importance of Israel, and the future of Believers in Yeshua/Jesus as Messiah?

Zola Tours: Looking to the Future

Due to the ongoing war in Israel, our Spring 2025 tour has been cancelled and we are now preparing for our Fall 2025 tour. We continue to stand in solidarity with Israel and the Jewish people, that they will thwart and overcome all assaults from their enemies! We pray and believe that many ZLMers, including perhaps you, will join us this fall for the study tour of a lifetime.

Alongside David and Kirsten Hart, Joshua and Caleb will co-lead the Fall tour. These two Messianic Jewish brothers, with their wealth of Bible knowledge, will add exceptional insights and wonderful fellowship to our tours!

A Note from Joshua and Caleb Colson

It’s been an honor to serve God through Zola Levitt Ministries for 18 years — initially behind-the-scenes but now in front of the camera. Both of us have also worked for other ministries, witnessing their successes, frailties, and failures. Whenever either of us left certain ministries, we vowed never to work in ministry again! Though we loved serving the Lord, we saw the negative impact of Christian celebrities, pride, and greed — basically sin in the Body of Messiah.

Now, we are in a historic time where God is course-correcting His Church. We believe that this divine intervention will lead to a great Reformation, not unlike that of the 16th century. While more and more scandals are shaking megachurches and pastors worldwide, we see these incidents as God’s loving, last chance for the Body to unite in Yeshua’s power and authority before He returns.

God forewarned in 1 Peter 4:17, “For the time has come for judgment to begin at the house of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the end of those who do not obey the gospel of God?” The time is near where we will witness God’s justice on the nations after the Body has repented. Most importantly, it’s our time to bring God’s truth to those nations after God corrects them.

People can no longer hide behind deception or claim that they didn’t know the truth. The gray area is being removed; God’s light shines on the truth, revealing the lie. Individuals will seek answers as the Church rebuilds into the strong, holy, and united Body that God designed, as revealed in the Book of Acts. We have the opportunity to return to that first-century moment when God poured out His Spirit, and the Gospel spread unhindered across the continents.

Our commitment to minister through ZLM for almost two decades is a testament to the faithfulness of leaders like Zola and Mark Levitt, who never compromise in following God’s standards. In 1979, Zola founded this ministry to bless Israel and the Jewish people (and, of course, gentiles) — particularly by leading them to experience the ultimate blessing of knowing their Messiah Yeshua. Now our ministry — your ministry — faithfully stewards every offering you give to maximize its benefit in spreading the Gospel.

Sha’alu shalom Yerushalayim! — “Pray for the peace of Jerusalem!” (Psalm 122:6),

Joshua and Caleb

P.S. The Lord has given ZLM an extraordinary blueprint for the next five years. We know that we couldn’t follow His direction — traveling the world and preaching His Good News — if He had not provided the resources for this mission. And He uses Believers like you as His hands and feet. The final harvest of souls is coming, and we are all fellow laborers in the field. Thank you for sending us (Rom. 10:15), and for accompanying us in spirit with your prayers.

Our Jewish Roots TV programs in January

David and Kirsten Hart

We are excited about what 2025 will bring for ZLM and OJR. During January’s first four weeks, we will join Joshua and Caleb in the studio, re-airing some favorite BBB episodes. Regular viewers will appreciate reviewing these invaluable Bible teachings.

In the fifth week of January, we will present our new series, Rebuilding the Ruined Cities, which was filmed several months ago in Israel during the ongoing military conflict. Joshua and Caleb recorded these 10 episodes to discuss the atrocities of war while showcasing the miracles that America’s mainstream media ignore.

The Judas Goat — At the Fort Worth Stockyards, the Bearded Bible Brothers address the mystery of the ancient Judas Goat to explain the danger of false teachers and prophets in the Church today.

The Scapegoat — Continuing their adventure in the Fort Worth Stockyards, Josh and Caleb unlock the hidden meaning behind the infamous “Scapegoat.” The brothers also examine the scapegoat’s connection to the Great Day of Atonement and the future Sheep and Goats Judgment (Matt. 25:31–36).

Faith in Action — Nearly every failure, sin, reaction, or fleshly action that man takes stems from fear. Thankfully, the perfect love of Messiah casts out fear. In this BBB classic teaching, Josh and Caleb discuss faith, the importance of aligning our words with God’s Words, and how healing is part of our faith walk.

Our Authority in Messiah — Yeshua came as the “last Adam” to free humanity from the curse of the “first Adam.” Josh and Caleb examine Believers’ authority in Messiah and how we can live a life free from bondage and sin. Yeshua’s sacrifice alone remains sufficient to purchase our salvation and empower us for victory on Earth.

Rebuilding the Ruined Cities

In this series, Joshua and Caleb visit war-torn areas in the Holy Land, where they discuss hope and blessing amidst ruin and pain. God will faithfully fulfill His promise to heal, restore, and rebuild Israel once again: “‘They will rebuild the ruined cities and live in them … never again to be uprooted from the land I have given them,’ says the Lord your God” (Amos 9:14–15).

The Return — Joshua and Caleb journey to Israel for the first time since their extraction in October 2023. At the Gaza border town of Sderot, the brothers consider the devastation from Hamas’s invasion as they focus on God’s covenant to restore the Earth after the Great Flood’s destruction.

Zola Levitt Ministries is ECFA approved and has Charity Navigator’s top rating of 4 stars, plus Ministry Watch’s Give With Confidence Score of 100.
