Zola on Alternatives to Surgery
Zola says this in the upcomming September Levitt Letter about his surgery and suggestions (given here and elsewhere) about alternatives to surgery:
If anyone wants to know, I gave a fleeting thought to simply sitting it out and seeing how far I could go. Perhaps I would live longer than anyone expected, by medication and losing weight and perhaps taking the volumes of pills and treatments our readers and viewers suggested when they heard the news of my operation.
I must say a word of thanks to all those people who meant so well and who gave a huge variety of suggestions to avoid this bypass operation. Various procedures and products were suggested and also chelation therapy, all of which I dutifully discussed with my cardiologist.
In any case, it’s very late in the game for any such treatments. I have over the years taken anti-oxidant pills, vitamins of all sorts, and various recommended home treatments for artery disease. And after all, I did pretty well, going 22 1/2 years since my last bypass.

As to the upcoming operation itself, I believe in God and I believe if the utter worst happens I will finally see him face to face. And there is a certain excitement inside me with the idea that I might actually see God in eight days. That is not at all likely, but as my cardiologist pointed out, when one leaves the house in a car one takes a chance with his life every time.

One thing is for sure, I certainly have many people praying for me, and most of the folks who sent in their ideas for cures also did much prayer on my behalf.
The results of the surgery (scheduled for about 4 1/2 hours from now) will be posted here ASAP.

Dear Zola,
God bless you my dear one, I am in constant prayer for you this morning……Your time is 2 hours ahead of mine so I took that in consideration and was praying for you.
I know our precious Lord is right there with you and guiding the hands of the surgeon and will give you a good recovery…..I have been there 2 times exactly where you are right now, I know it is not easy, but you are not alone, God is with you.
God bless you and your family, I am praying for them also today…..You are a blessing beyond words to us…..Praise God for his arms around you.

Dear Zola,
As an RN, I’ve cared for many bypass patients. My favorite are those who love the Lord. I would have loved the opportunity to be your nurse. You can be such a testimony for Yeshua even from your hospital bed and during the few days in the hospital as you recover. You will feel better than you have in a long time in just a short while. Be assured that God remains with you always. He will hand pick your nurses and therapists. May Our great God and healer speed your recovery.

Without knowing you have a heart condition I have been praying for your heart for over a year now almost every time I watch your broadcast. My prayer has been to the Lord to protect your life that you may continue your ministry for many more years. Israel has been on my heart for 54years, interceeding for the Jewish people, praying for them and their country. My burden came when as a young Christian of six years old my mom explained to me that my best friend was Jewish (like Jesus) but did not believe in Him. I was shocked and grieved for her. Over the years the wall has been there whenever I shared anything about the Lord and I finally decided that prayer would be the most powerful thing I could do and God Himself had to lift that veil. A group of six of us ladies have a weekly prayer meeting for Israel and the Jewish people, we attend the briefings at the Israeli Embassy in DC praying silently each time we step on that ground! The disengagement has been a great burden on our hearts as we watch to see what will happen and what God is going to do. We are also looking for ways to help some Russian Jewish people in our area make alleyah (sp?). Our hearts, love and prayers are with you. You’re doing a great work. God is NOT finished with you yet!

Zola, Sandra and family,
I was greatly concerned about Zola’s health and coincedently I was fasting at the time. I am happy and relieved to see Zola is doing well, and I understand Zola’s feelings that if it were God’s will he would see Him face to face. I am sure that there are millions of believers who love Zola and his gentle spirit. Ok, now that being said, please Zola, your never too old to take care of yourself and bless all of us with many years to come. I am sure your love for your family will be the inspiration to both eat right and exercise on a regular basis and to honor the Father with your diligence. We all love you and want you to continue the good fight and to finish your course. God bless you my Brother and may the Love and Peace of God fill your heart and the hearts of your loved ones. Our Precious Brother in Christ,
After we met you in Pittsburgh, and after watching your program for several years, and after having traveled with you to Greece and the Holy Land, we became missionaries who are serving in Latin America and based in Costa Rica.
We are home for 2 months and heard of your surgery and are faithfully lifting you in prayer each day. The Lord has used your life in mighty ways and used your God-given talents to bring Him such honor and GLORY!! And . . . HE IS NOT DONE WITH YOU YET!!
Our tour was in September 1995, during the OJ Simpson trial, and during our stay in Israel the Oslo Peace accord was being signed as we stood in front of the Kinesset, and shortly after our arrival back home, Issac Rabin was assassinated. Amazingly, we still keep in touch with several couples from our group, and have seen deeper commitments to the Lord in their lives also.
We had often wanted to write to inform you that Jerry Bolin, husband of Kittye, from McKinney, Texas died in December 2002 from an agressive form of cancer. He owned an oil company and it seemed to us that you might have known him before our tour.
We want to express our sincere thanks for you and your ministry, Zola, that has impacted our lives and the lives of countless others.
You will have the VICTORY in yet another battle – for you well know that the “battle belongs to the Lord”. He is the one who overcame the world – and by HIS stripes we are HEALED!!!

Praying for you Zola and Sandra–It’s ironic that you are recovering from heart surgery during this awful Gaza pull out. Your heart is broken too! Look forward to having you right back where you belong–teaching us from the television set!
